Life After Death

What really happens when you die?  Do you go to some eternal waiting room, awaiting release to your final destination?  Where will it be?  Do you have to stay there until someone prays you out?  What is a near-death experience?  Does your soul recycle into another, more perfect, existence on earth?  Does everybody go to Heaven?  If they do, then what is Hell all about?  Do you just shut down, like some worn-out machine?
